Two Birthdays

I'm at my parents' home at the moment.. been back here since Saturday. Earlier tonight the family celebrated my counsins' birthday.

'Alyaa' 's cake - simple sponge cake

Aida's - Oreo Cheese Cake

Happy Birthday to Aida - 31/08/08. She was born 11 years ago in Bangkok while her father was working there at the Malaysian Embassy. Her ambition is to be a top model! She wore a crown n a nice gown for this party! She loves to pose like models in middle of a photo shoot (even there's no camera around)

The two cakes are gifts from Kak Long Anisz, Pudding from Su (our Aunty), Satay from Cikna (my aunty, mummy of aida n 'alyaa') and my mom made Fried Mee... yummmyyy...

Also to 'Alyaa'...

Happy Belated 9th Birthday to 'Alyaa' (yess that's her correct spelling with apostrophe). She's very good in English, I monitored her homework the other day, she managed to give all correct answers! Well done 'Alyaa'!

On other note...
Happy Celebrating 51st Merdaka Day!

English 101 : Q & A

Is this correct: “Me and my friends ...”

“Me and my friends” can be used informally, but in formal speech or writing, you should say/write “My friends and I” if the phrase is the subject of a sentence, and “my friends and me” if it is the object of a sentence. You could, for example, say the following to your class teacher:
“My friends and I would like your permission to leave the class for a while.”

“Please excuse my friends and me for being late this morning. Our school bus broke down.”
In formal English, you always put yourself last when referring to yourself and another person or other people. For example, we say “my sister, my brother and I/me”, “my parents and I/me”, etc.

As for today... it's the descending exercise... if last semester it was ascending...this time is much tougher.. u need strong foot to lift up your body

The venue for the convo: Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) - don't u get the feeling that the building is like a flying saucer on top of a hill?

On our way to get our caps n gowns

This way please....

The gown... yesss... it is called a gown not a robe

and here is Mr. Badrul trying out his cap

The view inside - rehearsal time!! What's with the boring face???

Recycling Center

I'm going green today... gonna do my part in making our mother earth happy....

yesterday....

I brought home 2 full loads of this from college co-op

so earlier today... with my trusted batmobile (hiksss) I went to the recycling center, very near to my house... the place is... Kuantan Recycle Sdn. Bhd.

the weight in - 1 220 kg, weight out - 1 170 (after they took out the boxes from the car)

this place is huge!! This photo only shown the paper section... wayyyy back is the metal, plastics and glass sections.

Newspapers can take 5 years to decompose.

What do you think: is newspaper worth recycling?

the worker there taking out full load of boxes from my car.

These boxes will be repulped n molded into egg cartons, fruit trays or even construction material; wallboard, flooring, padding etc....

RM12 for 50kg of papers. Thank you Kuantan Recycle Sdn. Bhd. !!

Do you know???

It takes 20 years for a plastic bag to decompose and 250 years for a plastic cup to decompose.

It takes 500 years for an aluminum can to decompose.

So...come on..do your part! Recycle your waste...
