Summer Break

Summer break?

Well... If the college is still doing the AAD program, today would be the first day of the summer semester.

Students returned to the college today; after quite a short break. As usual, we (the lecturers) were in a blurry mode as to what the students should be doing today. Should they register for their classes? The only academic calender that I have in my office stated that today is the pre-registration day. Owhh... ok .. so since they did the pre-reg before the final exam, they (the students) got nothing to do lah today, or so I thought.

Not knowing that today, there will be a session with our beloved Director; we (the English lecturers) decided that today would be the perfect day to start a workshop on MUET!

Lesson learned: Get your facts straight. Plan ahead!

3 Year-Old

I started this blog on February 1st 2005. (Whoaaah...has it really been that long?)

The PIP gang would be graduting soon. They were the group of students whom I started this blog with. Though only 3-5 survived (the 3yrs diploma prog), I would say that I am happy for them. It's not easy to survive college life with a very minimum academic requirements.

Looking at their photos just now, here only 3 or 4 of them I've seen around for their final semester. The rest ? They must have been scattered all over the country either they'd be working or studying.

I had a very colourful experience teaching them. I still remembered one of the boys was very rude to me. Though for him it was just a joke but I think that just not how you behave in a classroom. Anyway, he was a nice boy, he did email me several times after he dropped out of the college.

To all of them...all the best with the real world out there. You better be prepared!

Well... It's not like I've been insanely busy with my job, it just that I've been frequenting my other blogs. Yes, it's plural - blogS. No personal juicy stuff I would reveal here... haha.. As if I have any right?

This semester, my ENG 142 students will have to do their online journal assignment using this blogspot... Hope all of you will enjoy doing this assignment... (Yeahh rite.. I can see some of u making funny faces) Oh... come on... writing is interesting.... it's therapeutic!! Try it! Soon enough you will find that you are addicted to it....

My Chatting Experience

After reading all of your chatting experiences, I feel I also want to share with you about my chatting experience.

Well....my first time chatting...it was a long time ago... Maybe 10 years ago... I was in college at that time, guess which college is that....haha... it's the same college you are studying now...yeah for those who still do not know, I used to study in this college to (re:boring right). The cybercafe that I had my first chatting experience is still in existence! It's the one in Kuantan Plaza! Yes...the one near the bowling alley!

I freaked out the first time I chat, why? Because I did something very stupid! I was using IRC at that time, when I was about to start chatting, there was a small screen pop-up asking me to fill up my personal details. Naively I filled up the whole thing! My real name (re:full name complete with my father's name!), my location and etc... Then someone sent a private message and he tell me my real name! I got really scared! I close the whole thing and went to see my friend. She just laugh at me for being so naive. I shouldn't have entered my real name! Just my nickname!! Hahaa...

Well...the next time..I got pretty smart... from then on I enjoyed chatting very much. I chatted in cyber cafes and later at home when I persuaded my father to give me internet access at home as my birthday gift!

Over the years I met lots of friends from internet chatting rooms. Most of them were CRAZY people, few of them were quite OK people...

Hmmm... want to know the story about my first blind date with a guy that I know from internet chatting???? Heeheehee....Wait for my next post... I'll make an entry about that...

Sorry for not being able to held the class as usual.. I've been VERY busy...

The end of Honeymooning Days

I need another week of "goyang kakis"!!

Next week will be a very busy week. The new semester will begin. The new intake of students will take place on the 4th of July. This time around just like last year, I'm gonna be on duty during that registration day. I'll be in charge with checking the students' certificates and other documents. Hope everything will be in good order.

This coming semester, we'll (re:the English lecturers) be busy preparing for the launching of English Speaking Campaign. Lots of activities n programs have been planned out for this campaign. I am really looking forward for this campaign. I just cannot wait to have proposal approved!

English Lounge

Last night I got an idea to set up an English Lounge for the students. It's a place where the students can relax and read magazines etc. Wouldn't it be nice to have such a place here in this college. But with all the constraint in terms of financial n space I have my doubts in making it come true. Well, anyway, it's always fun and exciting to have ideas that you can turn into reality. Coz, sometimes, dream do comes true...
